Chan Zuckerberg Initiative: Part-time opportunity for researchers with Meta

The team at Meta from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative have reached out to the department to advertise their part-time research opportunity that they'll looking to fill quickly.

Details are below, and you can check out details about Meta, here.

Meta is a free tool being developed by the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative to help biomedical researchers stay on top of the literature.

The tool is currently in a "closed beta" period, where we are inviting small groups of researchers to learn about Meta, try it out, and give us feedback.

Towards this, we are looking to form a select team of researchers in Toronto who are interested in getting involved with key aspects of our program on literature curation, data analysis, user recruitment and technology/product testing.

  • Curate personalized paper feeds for individual researchers based on their specific topics of research
  • Curate thematic paper feeds for groups of researchers, e.g. top 100 cancer researchers
  • Attend biomedical conferences and events to talk with researchers about Meta and collect feedback
  • Onboard new researchers to the Meta product, including setting up accounts, building paper feeds, sending emails, answering user questions
  • Otherwise use your expertise to help make sure Meta’s content is high quality
  • Assist with other biomedical content and researcher/user tasks as they arise

  • Graduate level or above, biologists or biomedical researchers (trainees and current students included)

  • Strong communication skills
  • 10-30 hours per week over 3 to 4 months - part time and weekends.
  • Ability and interest in traveling within Canada & US for training, conferences, and events (expenses paid)
  • $35 CAD per hour
  • Must be available to start immediately
